Rimantadine is antiviral preparation which is active against viruses type A (especially A2) as well as viruses of tick-borne encephalitis. In flu viruses B Rimantadine exerts anti-toxic action.

How does the medication work?
Rimantadine is antiviral preparation, amantadine derivative. Antiviral effect is associated with inhibiting the first stage of specific viral reproduction after penetrating of viruses into the cells. Rimantadine also inhibits the release of viral genome in the cells. Pharmacological effectiveness of Rimantadine is provided in inhibiting of viral reproduction at the beginning of infectious process. Rimantadine is active against many viral strains, especially flu viruses A and tick-borne encephalitis. It is not effective other ARVI (acute respiratory viral infection).
